Warning Signs of Children At Risk for Running Away
Any of the following behaviors can be a danger signal that someone (you, your friend, your child) is at risk of running away from home, or is being sexually exploited:
• Dramatic behavior changes including, withdrawal, disinterest in school and social life, lying, stealing and other types of out of character behaviors
• Changes in friends, appearance, clothing, or language
• Drug experimentation or abuse
• Previous runaway behavior
• Depression, suicidal tendencies
• Defiance of parental authority, negative behavior
• History of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse
